projectNADA pigs out again..

It really wasn't our idea to pig out again, as the post title suggests, but we had no choice. My parents have been wanting to do a nice dinner with us both for quite some time, so it would have been rude to turn them down. In the midst of a tight deadline, heavy downpour and downtown traffic, we safely navigated our way to the Hotel Imperial in the middle of KL, where mom and dad were gracious enough (not!) to start dinner without us. But no biggie. We were only 10 mins late, and by Malaysian's standard, on a rainy Friday night in KL, we almost felt like we were right on time. And not like the hordes of people at the hotel lobby helped (there was some sorta Ferrari dinner/event going on, and i'm guessing it's in conjunction with the F1 race thats happening this Sunday).

Ok, so back to dinner. The international buffet was at Essence, and with all 4 of us being small eaters (yeap, my dad too.. the fussiest man alive!), this was going to be a challenge. The place was a full house, so i actually like the way the buffet lineup was structured. They had separate food counters for different types of cuisine, so you never get a massive crowd of hungry diners at any one counter. Smart... i like. There was the sushi station (your usual sashimi, egg-rolls and hand-rolls..), salad+cold cuts station (needless to say, we both didn't make it there.. hahah), malaysian station (everything from satay to curries to nasi tomato..), western station (all kinda meat steaks and fish fillets, cooked in italian/spanish/greek etc, and pasta, which they will cook on the spot for you), chinese station (a variety of dim sums and make-your-own porridge and noodle soups) and finally, the dessert station (which happened to include a thick chocolate fondue fountain, melt-in-you-mouth ice-cream, a huge array of tarts, cakes, pies, cremes and sweets and the standard fruits) - everything to go with your complimentary red/white wine.

Their food selection is not as vast as other buffets, but i think it was alright for small eaters like ourselves. Although, after payment, we fuckin realized that for the price we paid per person, we all kinda under-ate. But it was still a nice dinner in itself. We don't know how much the dinner itself cost per person, but the bill was RM404 for 4 of us, so i think it was about RM80 plus tax and service charge per head. Anyway, best dishes of the night goes to the lamb (tender and juicy), duck (my mom couldn't stop going back for more), satay (a lil dry, but so tasty and flavorful), creme brulee (soft and not too sweet), chocolate fondue (duhhh... no explanation needed) and the mango ice-cream (thick and creamy, which was better with oozy wicked mango sauce... absolutely orgasmic!)
