Chawan, who took over Devi's Corner at Bangsar's lil corner, serves up decent malaysian dishes at expat prices. Don't get us wrong, that's a good review from us. Chawan's like a modern day dignified kopitiam - a tasteful crossbreed between Kluang Station, Ipoh Old Town Cafe and Madam Kwan's. And with where it's sitting, it looks to be doing very well. The menu's a tad small, but the coffee list is impressive and the food portion, generous. Besides serving exquisite coffee (which is what a kopitiam should do), the fresh mango juice is sinfully thick (just the way i like it) and the nasi lemak, pleasurable to the palate. The place also offers a pleasantly comfortable and relaxed ambiance with rustic and old school kinda shop-like interior. Quite charming...
