projectNADA attends Campaign Brief Asia soiree at Frangipani

Tight t-shirts, buff bodies and extravagant dance moves.

No... this wasn't the usual night at Frangipani. Kim Shaw (the man behind Campaign Brief Asia) was in town and together with Ham, they arranged for a little soiree where the much waited rankings of our Malaysia Creatives were to be announced. All the hype and anxiety, lasted a mere 15 minutes at most, which was cool, because it allowed for us to enjoy the night with drinks, delicious finger food and the usual gay jokes (no offense, we love you gays btw!). Of course, those that have been in the industry for many years, mingling with the competition was all you're expected to do on a night like this. Fuck yeahhh...

After the announcement and the much needed loo raid, we and our office mates took off to Jalan Alor, which was around the corner, to have our tummy filled. On the way there, we couldn't help but notice the flourish of concept bistros opposite Frangi itself. It had everything, from Irish to Italian to Spanish to Indian. Whatever you feel like eating on any day, you'd most definitely find it there. This place has no doubt grown into a Little Sukhumvit in the heart of KL.



Jalan Alor was a different picture, a different environment altogether. This was where tourist would come for over-priced Malaysian food. It was colourful, crowded, loud and filled with all things Malaysian. The 9 of us, we decided on one of the middle restaurant (they all look the same dammit...) and had our pickings of Bak Kuh Teh, Chicken Satay, Sotong Kangkung, Oyster Omelette and a couple more dishes which i cant remember (i had a couple of drinks, what do you expect?!). Honestly, the food wasn't great and we've spent a hell lot less for way better food elsewhere. But it's still an experience, so anyone who hasn't eaten at cut-throat Jalan Alor, give it a try once, because this kaleidoscopic atmosphere, you don't find anywhere else.
